Both can reduce dependence on a pressurized water supply, but they depend on different weather conditions and infrastructure.
| Factor | Water from air | Rainwater |
|---|---|---|
| Weather input | Atmospheric moisture and favorable temperature | Precipitation |
| Energy | Active systems generally require power | Gravity collection can be low energy |
| Storage | Can produce incrementally | Often benefits from larger tanks |
| Treatment | Needed when potable use is intended | Needed when potable use is intended |
The better question is what gap you have
If you already have large rainwater storage, another source may add redundancy. If rainfall is seasonal but humidity remains available, water from air may be worth investigating. If electricity is unreliable, an active condenser needs a power plan.
